Dealing In Goods From The Woods
At High West Wood Products we take pride in our natural wood products. We enjoy the challenge of cutting uniquely shaped and figured woods. Careful thought and years of experience is utilized to make sure the log goes on the saw in the right position to get the best end result. Each piece of wood is salvaged, milled and dried on site and ready to be shipped.
Irwin & Linda Wright
Owners of High West Wood Products, Irwin and Linda Wright have been in the wood business for 35 years. Irwin started in the specialty wood business as a logger with a great appreciation for unique woods. He would salvage unwanted logs with burls, spalted lumber, and highly figured pieces for special projects to be sold to craftsmen that were creating very special and higher end furniture. Back in the day he used an old 56 inch circular blade powered by an old Model A engine to cut wood for barns, exposed beams, and decking. In 1986 the family run operation moved to Gold Beach, Oregon. The logging operations grew and Irwin and his family were operating yarders and trucks, with a crew of 10 men. In their shop now is a Woodmizer mill, Lucas mill, and a 60 inch chain mill. Today Irwin continues to work small logging jobs with his brother and nephew, but is mostly concentrated on the salvage and reclaimation of high value woods that would otherwise be lost to the slash pile or chipper.

Wood From The West
Kevin Conner is the owner of, Wood From The West, based in Central San Joaquin Valley, California. High West Wood has partnered with Kevin to achieve the ultimate wood curing process. Wood is harvested in the costal region of Oregon, stacked on stickers and left to dry for 6 months to a year until it's around 20% moisture. The wood is then shipped to Kevin in Southern California to finish drying to an 8% moisture level. This unique slow drying process creates beautiful quality wood that can be used for instrument making, gun stocks, table tops and specialty wood projects. On Kevin's website there is a variety of ultra dry, high quality woods including maple, myrtle, olive, madrone, walnut, redwood, pistachio, port orford cedar and more.
